you will want to sand with about an 80 grit with the finished box. once it feels somewhat smooth. then with 180 grit bondo, sand, bondo, sand, then do it again. then go to about a 400-600 grit with a wetsand. works for me. make sure there are NO bumps or anything like that. remember bondo does wonders. with the paint i would suggest bringing it to a pro body shop, but you can use a oil based high gloss paint then a clear coat on top of that. i did just a high gloss oil based on a box and it looks good as hell so just do some samples and see what u want.

dream it, build it, fiberglass it
get it sprayed with a "gel coat" by a body shop after you ihave sanded it fairly smooth, then you can use pray paint and paint it yourself with light thin layers to aviod runs...i find its that to be the easiest and least time consuming way to do it...
make sure your mold is entirely free from any defects and inperfections. apply the primer surfacer (2 coats )to fill in all little scratches. you can wetsand this primer with 400 grit very lightly. now apply the primer sealer (2 coats) which actually holds the color of the paint for full brilliance meaning it wont sink through and lose its potential. you rarely sand the sealer. after dried and ready apply wax and grease remover to clean it. spray your basecoat 2-4 coats. sand any runs, sags, etc. now you can clear your enclosure 2-4. wetsand 1000-1500. use a buffer to bring back the shine from the sanding.
hope it helps. let me know how it turns out
