Could someone please tell me where I can get my hands on some duramix. I'm molding amp racks in my rear side windows of my Expedition. I want to use the panels as a foundation so I don't have to worry about attaching the amp rack a different. I plan on making all three pieces one big piece(one covers the rear A/C unit the other two goes up to the headliner. The only way I can think of doing this is to have 1/2 mdf cut to the same shape as the inner space (where the window is) then mold the mdf to the plastic with duramix, sand it down the the contour of the panels, make the amp bucket and glass the whole thing. I know glass doesn't stick well to plastic, but I think if a sand the panel down and drill holes all over the glass should stick. The windows are power but I don't use them much and I plan on replacing the windows with sheet metal to give the truck a unique look later down the road. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I didn't know there were different types of duramix. Which one would anyone suggest I use for what I want to do?

The Duramix will not adhere to the plastics very well either ( I tried on our vehicles as well and it just broke away from it ). We ended up ditching the entire panelling from the factory and built ourselves some new panels from scratch. This gives you more room to work with aswell. If you need technical support for this product, you can call 3M and ask them directly or call Levine Auto for their suggestions.

as long as the plastic is not a flexable piece like an a pillar or side panel it will stick ti plactic.it is a semi ridgid filler....used for bumpers i think.

you can get it at most auto body suppliers like a finish masters.

as for the side panel, you can do like Jeff said and start from scratch......or you can use parts of the factory panel and mold from there.
