I want to apply ribs to the flat areas of my enclosure, but I don't know when to apply them. I'm using rope as the ribs. If anyone knows approximately how many layers should be before and after the ribs, please help me out. Thanks!

Are you referring to "ribs" being for support or for aesthetics ? If it is for support make sure you have these ribs on from the frame up and then glass it . If it's just for looks, finish the enclosure off and then glass the ropes onto the enclosure.

I was going to use them for support, but I already did about 4 layers. Would it be any help if I added them in now and did about 1 or 2 more layers? Thanks for your help.

Just add the ribs in now or you can thicken the enclosure to 5/8" thick without the supports.
