hey, on my s10 dash, could i go over the existing dash with just filller or should i glass with mat first? also does it matter if there are small cracks in the dash?  thanks,,

If there is a crack in the dash ( depending on the size ) will show up. You will have to glass over the crack and grind it down and then smooth it out with bondo.
