OK I want to sink an Alpine 5.8" wide screen into the lower half of a 2001 maxima. I am going to remove the ashtray and cig lighter. It's the piece that surrounds the shifter. I bought a new one for when I sell the car, but it was $90 and I only want to do this once. I have glassed over wood for boxes and kick panels but never tried on all plastic. Will it stick? I  will only have a few smalll spots to fill but it's my car and I want it to look perfect. WHat do the xperts recommend?

if you want it to stick you should use some 80 grit sandpaper to rough up the surface first.  That'll give it something to grab onto.  I would recommend using Duraglass to do the filling work, and maybe a little bondo after that.  I feel that bondo is easier to sand.  Sand it smooth starting lightly with 80 grit to knock down the high points, then sand with 120, 180, and 220, spray 2-4 coats of a high build primer, wetsand smooth, and paint it whatever color you want, followed by two coats of clear.
