hey, I'm a total newbie when it comes to fiberglass speakerboxes and stuff. My only experience is making farings for racing bikes--they are a lot different. I dont really understand what the process is. More specifically, i dont understand what the fleece is and how you get it to go in the shape you want it to go in. I have an MDF box that i made myself, its really nice, but i wanted to try making a molded fiberglass box. I'm sure you guys could help me out, so thanks in advanced

If the box sounds good, and fits into the car how you want it to, it would be good to just fiberglass that box. That way you alredy have a base to work from and you already know how it will sound when complete. Matt

what is the difference between an MDF box and a fiberglass box, sound wise? Im sure FG sounds nice, but is there a noticeable difference? Do you have to coat the inside of the box with a cupple layers of ruberized underbody spray or dynamat or anything? Would that help or even make a difference? ------------- if you dont know how to fix it right, just fake it

how do i make i make a nice convex shape out of fiberglass if i dont have something to mold it from? I want to make a speakerbox that is pretty much a regular cube, but instead of having sharp (90 degree) edges, i want round edges with about a one inch radius. I was thinking about making a huge mold for it out of plaster of paris and paper mache, but that would be a big pain...Please help!

What kind of fiberglass do you use for your boxes? There are so many different kinds, like chopped mat, continuous strand mat, and woven cloth, and not to mention the weight. Obviously, money is an issue, but i dont want a box that will sound crapy or crack after a few months

Chop mat is usually the cheapest and most commonly used glass for car audio.
