I've been reading alot of the posts and almost everyone uses something different for their fiberglassed enclosure.  On my first fiberglass enclosure, we used a fabric material that was bought on the clearance isle of Wal-Mart.  It worked out rather well as the resin soaked right through it.

The new enclosure that I am building will be painted body color, therefore, I'll be using the 3M primer filler, sanding, etc.  I wanted to get some thoughts on what would be the best material to us for this?  My other enclosure was covered in carpet, so sanding / priming and making it very smooth really didn't matter.  For this new enclosure it does.

I've been seeing people talk about light weight fleece, medium fleece, fiberglass mat, stretchable fabric, etc.  What is most recommended ??

Thanks for your time...

They all have there own different purposes. To obtain the shape you want I would use fleece. After you have glassed the fleece then I would use the mat to strengthen the box.

it really depends on the size and curves needed for the project.. the larger or if it has a lot of wierd curves, you want to use a thinner material. this is because if it is large a thinner material wont warp as much. you can always add more strength to it with chop mat.

for smoothing.you always want to start with a reinforced body filler like duraglass or marglass. then you can move to regular bodyfiller like rage gold. then a polyester primer.

you can get it at most auto body repair suppliers; napa, finishmasters, and online too. USC is the company that makes it. there is also another product that is the same thing it is called marglass. evercoat also makes a short strand fiberglass reinforced body filler.

hope that helped,
