i was watchin monster garage (jessie james) and theyre makin this bumper for this custom boat/car(pretty crazy project) and theyre using something like styrofoam(or something sturdier) to carve out a mold for a bumper.
i prolly can guess that you cant use styrofoam since its not sturdy. whats is this material and where can i get them?

Select Products has it. It's an A+B type expanding foam.

more than likely it is a polyurethene 2 part foam
i missed that episode......but this foam will not melt with the heat and chemicals in the resin and MEKP

is this a good thing to use for more intricate sub boxes and such? and after u fiberglass it a good 5-8 layers, can u pull the polyurethane off the fiberglass, so u have a strictly fiber glass box?

it's a high density poly foam. I've used it before and the stuff works great!!! only problem is with it is price. A 4 X 8, 1 inch thick sheet of it runns around 400 bucks.

it can be used that way........if you want to do several copies of the same enclosure it is definatly a good way to make a plug for certain things. it works good for smaller things as well. if you are doing a 1 off piece like most people do, most of the time it is easier to do it the old fashion way.
