I need some good ideas and personal prefrences on what people do to reinforce where the fleece meets the mold on a fiberglass box. What i usually do is make the mold then wrap the fleece and hotglue it about 1/2 inch away from the top of the mold, so its pulled taught on the edge of the mold but not glued to it. Then i SOAK it in resin all round and the edge will be glassed to the fleece. I then sand the edge untill it cuts all the way thru the fleece allowing me to pull the extra away and its a smooth part at the top, but this makes it so i have to glass over that edge and makes it to rounded. This seems to work and i also pour resin into the mold ans let it go along the edge from the inside but i dont like having it rounded. Anyone who knows how to fix this problem let me know. thanks

with a glassed mold.....the way i like to do it is.... mount your ring, then spray the back side edges of the fleece or trunk liner with upholstry glue. spray the edges of the fiberglass mold with the same. stretch and glue the fabric around the edges.....make sure to glue it about 1 or 2 inches down the back side. then glass as usual. once cured......you can use a die grinder and 24 grit pad to grind the excess fabric away.... then you can mix resin and a thickener ..... like duraglass, bodyfiller, cab-o-sil, and even shreaded chop mat with resin.....mix in only MEKP and then rool it around on the inside of the box. this will fill the edges of the box.........
the MDF is done pretty much the same way...but if you feel the need, you can staple into the MDF.
