hi i have a 1980 caprice and i wont to cover my arm rest holders if u know its the plastic box type thing that the door opener is in and the arm rest pad rest on i wonted it to shine so i was thinking to clean it then prime it then put my paint on it then clear coat it but i have seen some one told me to put on somr type of feather weight first before i prime it it would look better...if that is the way to go i dont mind sanding ........

if the piece is softer ....which i think it is...you will want to use a flex additive in the paint. that way it will be able to move a little bit when you set your arm on it. if you want to get rid of the texture, you might want to put a few layers of primer on it and sand it. i dont know if the featherfill will work on a piece like that because of the softness of the piece.
