Use 3M spray glue for the vinyl and use the expensive vinyl that stretches in every direction as it will save you time and problems later.

Use the 3M Super 90 as this is the fastest drying and the best sticking spray glue.

If you go to home depot it's the stuff that is 11 dollars. Don't use that stuff that has a fine mist. Use the stuff that comes out like snot.

88 will hold, but 90 is a much better hold, go with the stuff that sprays like snot, it will hold better than the mist.  if the snot stuff is not available, go with the mist, but allow the mist to sit for about 15-30 secs before applying the vinyl, that way it is becoming tacky and will hold the vinyl better so that you can push out any bubbles.  another tip for getting rid of bubbles is the use a pin and poke its tip into the hole so that there is a hole for the air to escape then to push out the air with your fingers

You might also want to think about getting some apolstry foam to line the mdf with first. It will add a little padding and help hide some minor flaws. Also, as well as the glue, staple the vinyl and foam up underneath the help hold it stretched.

if its jammed force it - if it breaks in the process it needed to be fixed anyway

okay. where can you find apolstry and find exactly what is it use for again.... Is it like a foam used in seats. and i should staple it to the wood or staple the vinyl on over the apolstry, on to the wood in a what (stretch hold) could you tell me what this is.... is it a blind spot or something.... thanks for the additional information.

when i vinyl i use tile spray glue, it holds great.  plus you'll need to heat the vinyl first and stretch it for awhile so it gets very plyable, then once you stretch it staple it from the back so it holds. make relief cuts in the back edges if you have small wrinkles that you need to get out, when you make the cut just take the two edges and pull them in opposite directions to take out the wrinkle. and thats it, nothing hard about it at all.

also remember, if two peices oif vinyl have to meet at a seam, make sure it's on a flat surface, if you cut it to seam at a corner, the thickness of the vinyl will show and suck.   You can use a razor blade to cut the two peices to the same shape and have them pushed together.   You can make it look seamless

I've never really understood this. If you were to wrap a rectangular box in vinyl, wouldnt there have to be overlapping parts coming from the corners? How so u prevent this?

dream it, build it, fiberglass it

Has anybody ever tried the 3M #80? It is specifically for rubber and vinyl.. I saw it last time I was at the home depot but haven't had a reason to buy any yet. I would think this is your best choice for applying vinyl.
