ok, I was sitting here contempalting some stuff and got to thinking about it and was wondering... What can you make a mold out of? I know how to make molds of crap by using tape and blah blah, the stuff every fiberglass person should know. But say I want to make a mold of some odd shape or an add on shape? I think there's like a foam or something I can use isn't there? Someone point me out a link or some info, por favor! Thankz

you can use paper machee( i think that's how you spell it) and make a mold of anything and then fill it with fiberglass to have a perfect copy. paper machee being wet newspaper and let it dry. it won't be extremly strong but you can fiberglass it.

the stuff is polyurethane foam, you can find it probably at your local marina, if not look online at some of the fiberglass boat repair and building material wholesalers

also try anderson lumber or home depot. i used to work at anderson lumber and theyve got 1x2x8' blue foam blocks used to make docks and such. really lightweight and easy to carve, cut, glue etc. that would be perfect for molding. you can used just about anything that has the same shape youre trying to make also as long as you mask it, like defective did with his bowl.

it's a high density poly foam. I've used it before and the stuff works great!!! only problem is with it is price. A 4 X 8, 1 inch thick sheet of it runns around 400 bucks. ------------- if its jammed force it - if it breaks in the process it needed to be fixed anyway

400 bucks???? ok.... well, unfortunately I'm a poor southern white kid, so thats out of the question lol. I guess I'll just try to make a mold out of what ever and then just mask over it with tape and such then mold that. Thanks for all the replys and helpful info guyz
