personally, i always go with 14ga i blieve it is (could be 12ga) for my subwoofer wire.  with normal speakers, id suggest nothing smaller than 18ga, but i know most cars use 22ga for their stock stereo wires.  id say just go to a stereo shop and have them hook you up with some wire.  theyll give you the right size for a couple cents per foot.

If you have a really big setup with a big amp I've even done 8awg from my subs to my amp before. It really just depends on the setup. But on subs I try not to go smaller than 14awg

go with 14ga for 10" and 8" subs, 12ga for med. powered 12", 10ga for high powered 12", and if you have really big subs go to 8ga

honestly... there is nearly no amperage on a speaker wire..... you could run a 2000 watt 18" with 22 guage... it doesn't matter....    big wires are for big egos

i run 8ga to my amp and 12 to my sub, i ran 8ga to my sisters amp and 12ga to her three subs, so it really just depends on what you want to spend on wire, if the costs change that much where you are
