I have a 1998 Dodge Stratus. Some of the vinyl is slightly damaged so I am going to be dying the entire interior black. I have already dyed some of the vinyl and plastic pieces and it looks good.

Some of the interior pieces that get regular use (door handles, etc) are peeling. It looks like the plasic is black, with a grayish vinyl coating that is peeling. I figure I should totally remove the peeling coating before dying/painting so that my new coats do not peel.

Is there a good way to remove the stock vinyl coating on these parts?

not too sure, but you could always peel it up and then take some sandpaper to it. if youre going to try to peel it up, id suggest you use a hairdryer to soften up the vinyl tho. good luck. and welcome to the forum.

clean it well with soap and water. then wipe it with plastic prep. then use a SEM product called sand free on it then an adhesion promoter. then dye it. do several light coats then you can also add clear on top of that.
