Glassing amp rack

I'm looking for ideas for my new amp rack.  Do the professionals use MDF for the base of it and then just wrap that in fleece and start glassing it?  What to they screw the amps onto if that is how it is done?  Once the whole amp rack is glassed and painted with all the steps in between do they just drill a few tiny holes through the surface, put the amp on top of the painted top layer, and then screw the amp on that way?  I don't recall seeing screws in the install pictures I've seen of other peoples amp racks.  Maybe it's just not a close enough photo to show the screws?  Anyway, if you're a pro or semi-pro, please let me know how experts do this.  Thanks!

depending on the car we weld a base for the amp rack to bolt to. that way if it is a daily driver it wont go anywhere. then make MDF bases for the amps to screw or bolt to. then rabbet the edge of the mdf so you can staple the fleece, grill cloth, or trunkliner to it and glass up to that edge. this gives you a flat spot to mount the amp, and lets you get the contours for the rest.

another way is to make a fiberglass cover for the amp rack. this will hide the mounting for the amps and any other kind of support under the cover.

Well I don't know how to weld and don't have the supplies so that is out of the question.  I'm going to pick up some CA glue and make the frame out of 3/4" MDF and glue it all together.  I'll also use metal brackets if I can on the major joints for extra support.  I'm still not clear on how to mount the amp.  I understand having a flat MDF back plate to screw the amp to, but do I cover that flat piece of MDF with glass and sand that down and paint it?  Then I just screw the amp through the painted glass and into the MDF below?  Do I also drill holes through the painted surface for the amp wiring to come through and attach to the amp?  Thanks.
