im in the process of putting tons of mods on my car. one thing i would like to do is plan out how im gonna totally redesign my interior including the door panels. most of the door panels are vinyl, but one small section is this very hard cloth. im thinking bout just wrapping the area tightly with a t-shirt by stapling or something around the edges of the cloth. then do the resin/fiberglassing etc, then cover the edges (where the staples are) with small plastic tubing.
question is...can i actually do this? and if i do, will the fiberglass stand with the constant shutting of the doors?
any help appreciated.

yeah, I think it would work. I've never done a door panel like that before but the theory sounds good to me. I guess it would also depend on how thick the stock cloth is, you might try resining the stock cloth first just to get a hard surface or even drill some small flat head screws into the cloth (fiberglass and metal bond really well) and use them to support the actual cloth when attempting to bond the pieces. good post extreamcc, As long as you get a real good sheet of fiberglass cloth on top with zero air bubbles I should work great. They make rollers just for getting air bubbles out of fiberglass. They sell them on shopmaninc.com
