Hi,
Recently, I've been working with lots of fiberglass and body filler. I've been laying the wet body filler and fiberglass outside without a mask, and I've been sanding them both outside, with a poor-quality particle dust mask.

What I'm wondering is if this could be affecting my health. Lately, I've been sneezing and had a runny nose every day, and I figured it was just allergies, but usually they don't last this long and are mostly in the spring. So I got to thinking, maybe the fumes and dust are doing this to me. Do you guys think that's what might be happening?

Before I do any more work, I'm going to go buy a nice $35 respirator mask at my body shop supply store, but I'm curious as to if the symptoms I'm experiencing now might be due to the fumes and dust.

I would say your assumptions are correct. You need to be in a well-vented room with a dust mask on. Those fumes are very hazordous.

Go for a 3M respirator mask manufactured for vapors and small particulates ( # 6000 ) and use the PINK filters ( # 2097 ) as this is the best that I've found for vapors and small particluates.

Health is wealth (what my father always taught us). Without health, there isnt anything in life or life itself, so I would advise you to listen to the advise of all those who are helping with their ideas. I've heard that those fumes are not just dangerous but seriously dangerous. You might want to check yourself up with a doctor just to make sure you haven't gotten anything bad or if you did, at least you can cure it, the sooner the better. Good luck and I hope you're well.

Man, that's some scary stuff. Today I'm buying a nice respirator mask after work.

Thack, how do they get the fiberglass debris out of your lungs? How long have you been working around fiberglass?

Ive havent been working with glass very lung, but after some xrays they just gave me some over the counter stuff since it wasnt extreme. Dont get the cheap white mask that you cut the grass with either...  30 mask one time.
