So, while I'm still fiberglassing my enclosure, just wanted to know where I can find some of these high grit sandpapers everyone is using. Home Depot only goes up to 400 grit wetsand paper. Would I usually find the higher grits at kragen or such. Also, what levels of sandpaper do I wanna start and end with?

Walmart sells 3m up to like 1000 grit wetsand, u gotta look in their actual tools department as it wont be with their normal paint stuff. Other wise do what harebare said posted_image

I went to walmart today, and they said that all their sandpaper was in the paint department, and I checked in tools myself to see if there was any too, there wasn't. As for an auto parts store, I checked there as well, and the most they had to anything body related was car wax, so I doubt they had sandpaper. So, any other ideas where I can get this stuff? Secondly, will I need this stuff if I intend to use a non-car paint for my enclosure, specifically a metallic blue holoflake spray paint?

Perhaps a stupid question but, would sandblasting be a good idea or a bad idea? My friend was suggesting it to me and I remember that he used it to resurface his garage floor and it left a pretty smooth surface.

It would be a bad idea for fine finishing, but does a nice job of cleaning paint off brick.
You might try looking under " metal finishing " or tool and die supply. Both of the forementioned use extremely fine grit paper.

Best of luck,

Auto body suppliers, either local or online.

After the primer I do 80, 200 and then 500. I don't go over 500 grit unless it's a wet sand and buff after the paint.
