Subject: finishing speaker pods

I am in the process of finishing speaker pods for my tweeters that go in the door panels of a 97 mitsubishi eclipse. i want them to match the interior of the car. so i dont really do how to finish them. i was thinking about wrapping them in vinyl to get that grainy appearance of the interior. painting them would come out too smooth and shiny i think... any advice would be appreciated. also since they pods are irregulary shaped, can the vinyl shrink to form around the speaker pod with a heat gun? if so what type of vinyl do i get. i know nothing about any of this. this is my first time making something. thanks!

Yeah, you brush on a colored adhesive (even coating), the 'dust' the flock material heavily over the coated areas. Then, with a clean brush, lightly brush the extra flock off. This can be reused, so don't throw it away!

you can buy it from any Metra retailer(except best buy).   It is twoparts, an oil based paint, and a colored flock, its like a fine dust.  You first paint thesurface with a brush, then sprinkle the flock ontothis, wait 13 hours, then brush all excess flock off the project back into thebag, you can re-use it.   when flocking, you onlyhave to sand down to 60 grit. it apears to look and feel like suede.  Its the same stuff as on the inside of new VW gloveboxes.
