buying (4) infinity perfect 12.1 dvc subs and (2) 320x2 profile amps to power them. i was looking at the reviews on car domain, and a few people were saying that the box for these subs needs to be 'sealed' and small and sh*t, or else the sub will get tooo much air and blow? im not really sure what this means, does it mean i should make my fiberglass box as small as possible, and make each sub have a seperate chamber, and not have any port holes? any help appreciated thanks.

i have one of these in an infinity-spec vented/ported box - tuned to 32hz - they're GREAT when you can feed them a low enough note, but above 50hz or so, your just pushing air, which tends to blow out subs. i have blown out 2 so far with a bridged RF 800.2, and when it costs $40 to send them back to Infinity, this gets expensive... NEW BUYERS SHOULD GO 2 OF THESE IN A SEALED BOX! but yes this is a great sub!
I blew the first ones because I was pushing too much power and my box was too big. After I blew them with my MTX 81000D at 1 ohm (at which its not stable) I send them back to the manufacturer and they were replaced with new ones w/ no problems at all. The second time around, I got two sealed boxes, each half the size (.85 cu ft) of the old one and hooked them up at 4 ohm. With the right hookup and box, these are the most rediculous subs I ever heard.

i dont understand how a box being too big would blow a sub but... i dont know too much about subs. maybe these ppl r just idiots. or maybe i am (prob me)

My advice is this. Contact the manufacturer and ask them what the requirements for the enclosure are. The designed it so they'll know better than anyone else what the woofers need. Call them up and talk to their tech support line. Tell them what you're using and what you'll be using to power it and what type of sound you're looking for. Then they should be able to make a recommendation for your exact situation.

don't you just hate moron's who use equipment for things other than what they are built for and made for. xtreme(he spelled it wrong) is correct about the sealed box, the woofer is built for sq not spl and is meant to be put in a sealed box
