What grit of sand paper is best used for sanding down body filler (rage gold, bondo, etc)

depends. I usually start with like 100 unless its really bumpy then I start with like 40 and sand it down, then jump to 100-150 sand it down till its almost evened out then jump up to 250+ sand it smooth. Fill in the pin holes with glaze and smooth that down with 400 or so and it should come out fine.

It all depends on how thick the filler was put on and how lumpy it is. The 3M Roloc discs work really well for the heavy work. I go for the gusto with the 24 grit but they have a 36 grit too. I don't see a lot of difference personally. Then just work your way up the list of grits. Again, I use the 3M sanding discs so it's 80, 220 and 500 (they also make a 400 which I skip).
