When I pushed in the locking mechanism to open the door it broke off and fell down inside the door well.  I can only open the door now from the inside.  I am very mechanically inclined (Last month smoke was coming out of the ignition keyhole and I changed out the whole assembly by myself) but am not a mechanic.  There isn't anything I can't do.  I just need some pointers if you please.

I know I can fix it...I just cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the door panel off.  It is my wife's vehicle and I dare not screw it up.xx(   I have done exhaustive searches and while I have found many 'how to do it' sites, none have helped.  You guys seem to be way beyond the 'how do I get the stupid door panel off" question.  So....if you have any knowledge on that I would greatly appreciate it.  Thanks.

I used to have a 94' jeep cherokee and my door panels were held on by like 8-10 plastic pop locks. Just work a screw driver between the plastic panel and the metal door frame and pop those suckers. Once the first one comes off they'll all start pop'n out. If I recall correctly there's a screw or 2 holding the handle and lever assemblys onto the door that must also be removed. Anyway, a friend of mine has a 98', I'll see if I cant take a look at it if ur doors dont just pop off.

Hey xtreamcc,

Thanks alot for your reply.  And you were correct.  Too late to do me any good but hey that's okay. I had to get the job done today so I just went for it.  Wasn't that big of a deal.  The really hard part was finding the door handle.  Finally found one in a junk yard and it was off of a '94.posted_image  Oh yeah, the REALLY hard part was getting the little cover thing over the dillymajiggy that moves the side mirror.  I finally had to go to the mall and hit Sears for the part.  It took a T6 star tool.  It was harder to find that than the door handle. lol  Thanks again dude.posted_image

It took me 6 hours from start to finish but I did it and it is the same as it ever was.
