First off this is my first try and I have only been reading the posts in this forum for a couple of months before going head first into this project. It is being done for two car, a 87 prelude (mine), and my friends 89 civic SI.

How easy is the Everglass Short strand Fiberglass to apply compared to the fiberglass matting.

The short strand fiberglass is very easy to use. All you do is sand smooth the surface spread on the glass. After using it though i prefer using the matting because of cost and i think it is stronger. And i got the can at a local car body shop.

short strand fiberlgass filler isn't for making a box strong. Its just a reinforced filler thats a little stronger than plain old bondo. Bondo is used to fill surface cracks, dents, pits etc. fiberglass filler is used to fill deep goudges, cuts and major body work stuff. Its not super strong and will crack just like bondo when used as a boxes strucural support or placed under high vibrations like a speaker box is designed to handle. Stick with mat and cloth for this and use the filler to get the smooth finish.
