Iv'e been watching this site for a while and have gotten alot of good info from all of you, many thanks! I decided to register and share my project with others in this forum. I'm working on my 1985.5 Porsche 944 non turbo. Many of the Porsche pureists would cringe to see what I will be doing with my car (sortof de-porsching it a bit) but I want a unique car. Here's some photos of the current state of my project. I welcome any comments and I hope I can ask some of you some questions on car audio in future.

:D

Its hard to tell from those 2 pics on what exactly it is, but I checked out your cardomain page, and it looks like you got ALOT more work to do... but the end result should look pretty kick ass! :) keep us updated!

Thanks, I basically removed the rear seats and am turning the seat cavity into a speaker box for Xplod 6x9's , then I molded some pods for the Xplod 6.5" speakers. I will have Xplod 5.25" in the door panels in custom pods and tweeters on the A-pillers. I am mounting 3 Sony amps in the trunk and a Xplod 12" sub in the spare tire well. I'm going for sound quality rather than power / spl. If you noticed I have removed the rear hatch and made a custom rear deck with a trunk.

I like the concept but i don't get why u went with SONY XPLODE for the kind of $$$ your probably putting into this car i would have gone with a higher end audio like ALPINE for exaple.

Yes I will be spending quite a bit on the car but I can't afford to spend a ton of $$$ on a sound system.I would much rather hear my engine revving. The Sony Xplod stuff is within my budget and I'm spending more on my suspension, performance, braking system and paint. As long as the sound is clean I don't need alot of volume or power.

Thanks for your input

P.S  Porsche parts aren't cheap!!! posted_image

You should of worked on making it smoother when you pulled the material.

A lot of creases that will seriously increase your work load.

Actually it is quite smooth, its just the way the resin went on that makes it look creased. We'll see what the final result shows posted_image

ya but if you took your time you can get it to lay down so its just exactly the same smoothness as the outside will be . here is a pic of a box i did with a really thin coat of bondo over it

No, actually the subs are in a sererate enclosure from the 6x9's. I had built the sub enclosure over the previous one so the two would be seperate. Hard to see from the pictures.

If you go to my cardomain page,  https://www.cardomain.com/id/irricanian

you can see what I did.

Thanks, I was hoping to get some more done but the weather has not been co-operating. I went to World of Wheels here in Calgary yesterday and took a few pics of some installs and thought i would share them. The Viper trunk with the two triangular subs had plexi covers over the amps which were lighted and had fish tank bubblers as well.

Some update pics, I've sanded and put 1st coat of primer on. Now I am going to do a few touch ups and sand before putting on the next primer coat. I also sprayed some sound deadening material on the inside.

posted_image I just dropped my subs in to have a look . Were getting some nice weather here in Calgary so I might have some more pics by the weekend.
