This is the first MDF ring I've ever made. I feel like the Lord Of The Rings posted_image

Feel proud about this first part of my install, but the road ahead is long...

Also made a second one with a smaller hole in it, will glue them together and have a nice flush sub :-)

OK - now on to the fiberglass part and the amp rack...

sweet! I love the feeling of accomplishment of making something yourself... My only suggestion now is to router the OUTSIDE edge of the ring with a 1/2" round over bit. For me this helps the cloth make a softer transition where ever it has to be stretched to instead of a sharp drop off where the edge is 90 degrees instead of a nice round corner but its up to you, personal prefference.

That'a a great tip ! And that is why I love coming to this forum. I learned so much just lurking here and reading all the posts...

It makes sense, as it will indeed make the transition from ring to cloth more "fluent".

Rounded the edges...

The grill will be painted in the final project. Looks good - nice and flush.

SEE WHAT I MEAN! "PROFESSIONAL" LOOKING!! and a shop could of charged you around $60 USD for those To me they look MUCH better rounded over! Great Job!

looks good how did you cut out the rings? my only suggestion is this ...now that the grill is nice and tight and you rap it with fleece and it expands with the fiberglass then the grill will not fit so great...not trying to bust your bubble just soemthing to think about but maybe you allready have...
