Can you fiberglass in the winter outside? I will probably be freezing temperatures outside when I want to start my project. I have a garage that I can use, but its not heated, and not insulated. I have a kerosene heater, but it doesn't really heat up the garage. What should I do? Will it work? Thanks, Kevin

In my experience with fiberglass, it is not likely to work unless you add a rediculous amount of m.e.k. and that will weaken your glass strength. I have a detatched garage and live in Ks were it gets relatively cold, so i went out and bought a small box wood burning stove and it gets my garage pretty toasty. -------------

It was 7 degrees here this weekend. I just turned my electric heater on, used the same about of MEKP I normally do, and when I was done, put my 500 watt lights on the glass to cure it. It was cured in 2 hours. Give it a shot. You could also look into UV cure resin, doesn't require any additional hardener, just a source for UV light (sun, UV bulb)

When i made my box it was about 20 degree's outside no garage. my best friend was a Hair Dryer. and small batches of resin or it would gel up pretty bad.

I have been working on my boat and a concealed radar detector housing in my garage since the start of winter. When I an there I usually run the kerosene heater until it hits about 60-65 than shut it off. I glass, than I leav the garage with no heat. My glass has dried everytime.

iv done lots of fiberglassing in the winter, it just takes alot longer to cure. It stays sticky on the outside until you can get some heat to it. But it cures enough to hold its shape. Oh, and it smells way less in the cold.

yeah i agree with alpine guy, we are from the great big north and i also have no problems, if i need it to cure faster i just use a heat gun or cover the back of the car with a tarp and put a space heater near the area.

Yeah I am in Dallas right now, and it just snowed today.
Tempatures in the 30's and I have a really weak heater infront of my amp rack right now and it is barely curing. After about 2 hours I'll go down and get my heat gun out :)
