Okay, here is the situation, I have a 1984 Maserati BIturbo and a 12" Treo SSX.  I bought the sub before the car and now as I was going to measure the trunk to see what size box I could put in, I found out some unpleasant news.  In between the trunk and rear seats of my Maserati is the gas tank.  It spans basically the whole width of the car, leaving only about 7-8 inches on each side where the rear suspension is.  I am really stuck on what to do, I don't want the subwoofer resonating through the gas tank.  Any suggestions?

resonate through the gas tank posted_image hehe, get some dynamat (or a comparable sound deadener) and add a layer or two above the gas tank. That will reduce the vibration which will keep ur gas from resonating lol.

Thanks for the advice xtreamcc.  But what do you guys think about possibly taking out either the whole rear seats or just a portion and using fiberglass to create a custom enclosure.  I am really trying to go for sound quality so I don't really want to go through the gas tank at all.

You could definately make it work,  and you would have plenty of room with that seat gone.

Ahh the world of fabrication and modification, every bit of it is nothing but sacrifice one thing and gain another.
