Im new to this group and am trying to do an install in a 98 Jeep Cherokee. I want to keep as much cargo space as possible, does anyone have any ideas as to where my 3 amps and a 12 inch sub should go? Ive heard of building a false floor, but was worried if i did this the amps would get too hot, and im not sure where to put the sub.

I build and sell a fiberglass/ MDF box that fits into the cargo pocket in the rear. It extends flush with the wheel well and takes up minimal cargo space. If you have experience in box building, it is not a difficult task. As far as the 3 amps, I've seen them in XJ's mounted under the front seats, under the rear seat, back of the rear seat, and, In my case where the rear window is. Head over the www.naxja.org and search around- we deal with nothing but cherokees. -Jay

WHY the hell do ya have 3 amps...............? The efficiantcey of todays amps doesn't rquire you to have 3 of them. 2 amps, a 4 channell and a sub (monoblock) amp.........really , why 3 amps. front rear and sub? Don't knock me for my spellin...........you know what I'm tryin to say.........K -------------

In any SUV I allways suggest a down fire box, it protects the sub as well as loads it...........get your amp situation figured out. Then do a sealed down fire box...........you'll love it!

Thanks for the response jay. I have checked out NAXJA before looking for technical help but never stereo stuff. ill check it out. I would be interested to see a picture of the boxes you make. Also what do you sell them for. I do want to try to make one myself, but dont have much experience. If it doesnt come out, id be glad to buy one from you. Also when you said you put the amps under the rear window, is that with the sub? or in the tailgate somehow?

Right now I have 3 amps. One for front, one for rear and one for the sub. Given that i dont have much space in this car I will probably switch to a 4 channel for the front and rears instead of 2 seperate amps.

try to put your sub amp on top of the box, then see if you can cram the other two onto the back seat on the other side... -Drew
