I'm a newbie as my signature shows, and I'm really interested in doing my next install w/ fiberglass; however, I've been looking around and I don't know what the difference between each of these components and compounds is.

There's Bondo
Epoxy Resin
Duramix
Fiberglass Resin
Polyester Resin
Fiberglass Cloth VS. Fiberglass Mat

Does somebody mind filling me in on thier uses?

Bondo is a filler, used to finish the box.
Epoxy resin is usualy used for kevlar and carbon fiber.
Polyester resin, aka fiberglass resin, is a liquid that is mixed with a hardener that dries and gives strength to fiberglass mat/cloth.

Which is better to use? Fibermat/cloth or a premixed fiber in the can.

I'm sorry for that no word post, Computer was acting up.

I would use fiberglass mat instead of cloth. Mat just joins better and is easier to use IMO. Just remmeber to cut it in small pieces.

Yeah actually not trying to contradict you burndaddy, but if you take the mat and tear it into about 2"x2" pieces it will work even better. Also its all in what you prefer. I prefer the cloth over the mat by like 1'000 times over. I tryed the mat on two of my fiberglass projects wasnt really crazy about it, then tried the cloth and I immediately said im never going back.  Unless I just have too for some reason,  also the cloth is stronger because its actually woven together.

yea i think a lot of it depends on the person and the situation, i've had problems with cloth leaving bubles in really weird shapes, but that's just me, i would try and build something stupid first, make a pod for something to hold pencils or something, just so you get used to how long you have to work with things before they cure, and the different matts, i think it helps a bit to have that little bit of experience so you don't do something to a big project and have to start all over
