Ok last year I made a custom rear deck, and if I knew how to post pics on here i'd show ya! Well we used box carpet to cover it and it worked real well for a year or so?... But now all the seems are shrinking so I decided to use fiberglass resin and soak the whole project and now.... I want to sand it smooth and paint it or something else?... Now that I have layed the first coat of resin on... ya know the fuss from the carpet... well add resin and you get a pavement type surface feel... Now can I just lay another coat of resin on this? to help cut the sanding time in half? or should I completely sand this deck for an hour or so with 36 grit? PLEASE any help would be appreciated!!!

Throw another coat of resin then take a DA to it. If you are doing this by hand then good luck.

Yeah I saw a guy that put like 4 coats of resin on the fleece layer and then he did the aerosil stuff.    But with the 4 coats of resin on there it was like extremely smooth. Very little sanding

and you can paint over resin??? I always thought you had to paint over body filler? I plan on using a VERY SMALL SKIM COAT of body filler IF NEEDED... maybe my knowledge of fiberglass isn't what I thought at all???

Yeah you could paint over the resin if is smooth enough for you with no pitholes, just make sure you sand it down with like a 320 grit thats a good grit for your primer to have something to stick too.  primer it and paint that thing.
