I am installing a normal mdf box under my rear deck with the woofers facing forward... due to space issues my only option to port is straight up... Now I want to port through the rear deck but the top of the box and deck are very close... and the angles won't match to use a straight piece of pipe... Can I use 2 ports and drop them in the rear deck and connect a piece of bendable tubing from the home depot to the top of the sub box by a port installed from inside the box upside down?... I hope you can picture what I mean... Manufactures specs are a 4" round port 9" long... Now the 2 woofers are in a shared chamber so I need to have 2 ports 4" round 9" long... But thats why i'm here to ASK QUESTIONS! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

The only reason I wanted to use the bendable ports is to get the right length... I know there are companys that sell this specifically for audio... I don't know how it sounds? I assume you'd have to silicone/glue the port tubes up pretty well to make sure all air is exiting through the port. The angles are too difficult to match to a straight piece I believe

So you cant use elbows and stuff to match what you need. That stinks like I said man, I dont know that much about ports I just think that the tube your talking about would seriously mess with your sound from those ribs on the walls of the tube. But hey maybe im wrong

Well looks like i'm gonna have to just go for it and try it... I suppose I could try and line the inside of the port with a 1/4"-1/2" gray foam... But maybe thats just me being dumb?...

you can fill the pipe with hot sand, and the hot sand will melt the pvc, and act like a mandrel so that the pipe doesnt collapse when you bend it.

Im doing the same design in my nissan 200sx. My plan is to build the box for one MTX 9500 12" firing into the back seat and ported through the new rear deck I made. What I am going to do is build the entire enclosure except for the rear plate take the hole saw and drill straight up from inside the box through the rear deck , then run the ports through it and mark the angle. Then cut the pipe on the angle and buy the port finishing rings. Essentially the port will be sticking out about 1" from the top of the box to the bottom of the rear deck. My ports are 3" x 9" long x2.

why do you have to port it into the car, why not just dp a slot port in the trunk? ar those subs really not loud enough?

I'm building the mdf box so that it will bolt to the trunk opening into the cabin... "sealing the woofers off" from the trunk so all my bass is upfront... I have always hate this design but then again i've never heard one done properly until last year and was blown away!...  I can't port on the same plane as the woofers due to lack of space on the face of the box.... and if I port into the trunk in theory nothing would come back into the cabin...

How are you sealing it off from the trunk? What I did was take out my back seat i cut out the rear deck and replaced it with 1/2" plywood and made a plate behind the seat as well, then F/G both peices together. I then routered out a 13" hole in the center of the plate just enough to fit the outside diameter of the woofer inside the hole. I ran screws from the plate into the box to seal the front of the speaker box, and like i said in the previous post saved the back plate of the box till last in order to drill out the port holes. I'll post some pic's when i get the entire trunk finished amp rack and all. HAVE FUN & LET ME KNOW HOW LOUD IT GET'S.
