I'm thinking about buying one of these tools. https://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?BV_SessionID=@@@@1572262213.1108998488@@@@&BV_EngineID=cclgadddlkhjidgcehgcemgdffmdflh.0&pid=00917254000&subcat=Rotary+%26+Spiracutter+Tools&vertical=TOOL

Anyone have one? Opinions? I want to use it to cut MDF rings, and also I would like to use it to cut perfect squares out of MDF as well (for a not-audio related fb project). Will it do those two things? It's supposed to come with an edge guide.

If you say "I already know how", don't ask me a single question.

I also use a roto-zip style tool as well as a Dremel tool. They both are great for fiberglass work or cutting plastics. I use a router with a roundover bit for speaker rings though. You need a beefy but to go through 3/4" MDF. I broke the it on my roto-zip!

In a world full of copycats, it's great to be an original!

I saw the router table attachment for it and rounding off the rings came to mind. You don't think it will handle it though?

i bought the craftsman to cut rings, and it didnt do the job very well, i wound up returning it. so i guess if you want go buy and hang onto the receipt!!! what do you got to lose?

a router and a circle jig is the way to go.

I agree, mine did the job for a while, but I finally got a router and it's night and day.   spend the extra few bucks.

I bought one last week and I'm going to return it tonight. :(

The collet wrench included was for a dremel and not big enough for the cutting tool. The instructions aren't very clear, and I probably wouldn't end up using it for anything other than mdf rings. So I am going to take your advice and start looking for a router.

What size/power router do I need for cutting rings and rounding the edges?

What routers do you guys have, and how much did they cost?

Will this $70 Craftsman model do the job well?

looks good, the only bad thing i can think of is it can only take 1/4' bits.  Which isnt that big of a deal unless your doing some serious cutting

THOSE  ARE CRAZY! CUTTS (MDF) LIKE BUTTER! BUT THE BITS THAT COME WITH IT ARE CRAP! SO GET THE MULTIPURPUS AFTER MARKET BITS (AT SEARS) THEY HAVE LIKE A BLUE AND WHITE PACKEGE THAT SAYS ROTO-ZIP ON THEM! OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT.
