I have many years now doing this and i have never run into this problem, lucky for me it is my own car......I have made a small base, my sub will be mounted about 12" foward of where the base ends, due to the shape of the box (looks like a cannon from an old ship) the fabric has to overlap......Problem is i cant get it to do that and stay put, when i use spray glue it comes off.  The overlap is under the cannon and you will not see it without really looking but i would like it clean..... any one have ideas?

Have you tried a two part epoxy adhesive? You can get it at most hardware stores. Here's what it looks like

What about trying contact cement?? It's permanent and once those two pieces go together.... that's it!!

Have you tried 3M Super 77? I use it and it never loses hold. You can get it from Wal-Mart.

Hot glue gun,  it wont let go when resin is applied. Or staples,  staple it in place and then put resin on let it dry so it stays in place.  Then pull the staples out once its dry.

hot glue works great, 3m spray (just make sure it is dry) lastly staples or a combination of them (hot glue/staples or 3m/staples). I've never used epoxies so i cant say if there good or not.

Epoxies are incredible for their job. Not sure effectiveness in car, but well, they rule. Atleast IMO.
