hi all!

im currently building a fiberglass sub box for my friends 2002 mustang. the box is roughfly 2.5 cf ,the front half "speaker area" is made of fiberglass the back part is made of MDF. this box is made to fit the mustang and use the maximum space in a small area wile keeping his factory mach sound system, and im doing the installation for (2) power acoustic fubr 12" 1800w. (2) mono bazookas rsa800.1D the P.Miller amp. (2) sony 3 way 6x9 for the doors. and (2) tweeters in the factory speaker pods location,

how much will an audio installer charge for this settup?.

just the installation not the matterials or electronics hardware, im only getting  $125.00 for my poket, so we would like to know how much money is he saving.

boricuaso -"how long would it take to finish everything up there including the fiberglass box?"

That all depends on you. From the image I have in my head of what your doing I might could get most of it done in a day or two (a good day). It might also take me several days.

Also rates are usually close to whatever autobody shops in your area charge. Here (Montgomery AL) I can charge 40 an hour, but I go to Atlanta and do all the fab at my friends shop and I charge 65 an hour.

i am one of two custom fabricators at the shop i work at (searcy, AR). my coworker and i talk about "custom" pricing before we quote anything and we just did a box just like the one you are describing, but carpeted. we pocketed $120 but split it between the two of us. construction took 2 hours and 30 min to carpet. buddy deal would be cheaper. sounds like you work cheap, especially for finished fiberglass.

ps-paint or krylon?

Fiberglass work is expensive and there is no way I build anything fiberglass for less then $300.00(except simple kicks). That is for a basic fiberglass box semi paint prepped. But people say I am an a***ole here and I would charge too much. If I was doing the job that you are I would just throw in the equiptment for free, speakers and amps are simple.

Noone around where I live does much custom fiberglass work.. at least not decent work, and my friend and I are getting an average of $1200 to make an enclosure for subs and amp rack. Now thats painted and installed, with some nice custom color paint. Cant wait til we carbon my roof! Then $$ should start rolling in when people see that :)

wow  $1,200 for a custom fiberglass box and amp rack! now thats some good money. my friends at work, where looking at the box and amp intalled and every one likes it, even though is not finished! im a slow worker i guess. when i told one of them that knows alot of car audio how much i charged him, he told me i should of asked for way more, like $350 for the the box alone, but cant do  it since i allready game my friend a price. ill post some pics later this week for any one interested in telling me how much its actualy worth.

later
