I was wondering how can I get some texture on fiberglass similar to the factory dashboard? I finally finished this dashboard piece I was doing for the TV, but it looks kind of too plain - just smooth, I think having texture on it will make it look better.
Any Ideas?

SEM Texture coat. It dries flat black. Do not put it on too heavy too fast or it will crack on you. light coats. Also looks rougher than it really is until it dries. Good stuff. Rick H...

I got it at the Body Shop supply house. May could find it on line. SEM has a web site and I am sure they can locate a dealer for you. Rick H...

Another paint that acutally worked great for me on fiberglass and gave a real OEM look was actually the Rustoleum (sp?) textured paint from Home Depot. I was finishing a FG gauge pod and I just couldn't get it to look good in the OEM textured center console trim, and rather than smoothing out everything else to match, I tried this stuff and it matched almost 100% in terms of color and texture. I used adhesion promoter, then primer, several light coats of the textured black and then two mist coats of clear and it worked perfect. The only trick to it that I found was that you needed to put on the 2nd and 3rd coats while the previous coat was still a little tacky or the 'bumps' wouldn't flow out as well.
