Not real clear on your question. You can buy it by the gallon at the Body Shop Supply house.
Now getting it wholesale depends on fast of a talker you are!

most fibreglass walls need approx 6oz chopmat, so if you are using 1.5oz you need 4 layers, if you are using 2oz you need 3 layers.

No prizes for guessing how much you need with 6oz chopmat! posted_image

Yes it would be ok. It's a lot harder to work with though. Your box could also double as body armor if needed. Stick with 1-3oz. MUCH easier to work with.

If you used 2 oz weave and do 3 layers you get a big flexy problem.  I think it more depends on thickness rathar than weight.  Im also not a pro fiberglasser yet tho.

The weight of the matt gives you an idea of how many layers will be needed to reach an acceptable thickness.  So the weight of the matt is relative in terms of thickness.

I love to use Uscomposites.com, my advice is to stick with 2 oz. CHOP STRAND MAT. I do not like anything woven for box building. The mat seems much stronger and does not need to be set a certain way. As for resin 435 standard layup polyester resin is awesome at $21.50 a gallon it can't be beat. good luck

1.5 OZ mat is good for enclosures just do 4-5 layers depending on strength needed

2-3 ounce is cool for fast build up, 1.5 for curves, 3/4 for any detail or 90 degree curves
