It doesn't seem like many people are looking at my post where I've been informing people of my progress anymore so I'll do a new post.  Today I actually did the Marglass of my top dash cover.  I also made a front MDF post to hold up the front of the dash top.  I stapled fleece all around it and glassed that.  Saturday I'll Marglass the piece and grind down the dash top.  If I can, I'll also use Rage Gold on the dash top and sand it down.  That's the plan at least, we'll see what happens.  I may have to take my truck to someone to have some electrical things fixed and if that takes most of Saturday the work will happen on Sunday instead.  For those of you pic freaks, I already have lots of progress pics and posted more just now.

Well hopefully I'll get more done this weekend and I'll post more pics at least once for every day that I get work done.  If you want, bookmark my site and just check up on it every couple days.

Doing the dash top and front will actually be kind of easy.  The tough part will be doing around the steering wheel and the lower dash.  It will take awhile to build an MDF frame like Alpine does if that's what I decide to do.  I might take some shortcuts if I can think of any good ones.

Anyone got a source for marglass. I assume it is fiber impregnated fiberglass.

I got my Marglass at Finish Masters since they were out of Duraglass.  They are the same thing but made by two different companies I think.  Thanks for the encouragement. I have to get my electrical things fixed tomorrow but maybe I'll have time to do more work.  If not, it will be Sunday.

Finish masters is awesome. Do you guys know if they carry that 3m textured paint for making dashes and stuff?

Anyhow dude gotta keep posting them pics to make sure your project doesn't get all "mustang" on us.

It has nothing to do with what area of the country your from. Don't worry, I'm pretty sure from what you've got done now that you won't go "mustang" on us.

I think I understand what you mean now.  And yes, it does matter where you're from, because you know what that means and people who live here don't.  Each region of the US has their own slang/lingo.

Oh nevermind, I read that post many times.  I forgot all about the 500 pound bathtub in the trunk.  I just didn't know what you were referring to.  That's the post that people just wouldn't let die.

Besides, I can't afford to go "mustang" on you.  I don't have enough money to buy a half ton of bondo.  I'd much rather just grab a shovle and throw some rocks in if I want to add useless weight to my truck.  With gas prices the way they are, that's probably not a good idea right now.

Yeah, I'm trying to make "going mustang" a common term for when you SERIOUSLY mess up your car trying to customize it. That would be cool!

But I don't think we'd get to use that term very often considering how hard it would be to compare anything to the original mustang lmao God I just read that thread again I just can't get enough!

Well if I screw up that bad I'll sell my truck for parts.  I have 3 payments left so new car here I come!  If by some miracle this all turns out ok then I might actually keep the truck for awhile.

Hey man, any more progress on the dash? I've got an older dakota that I want to make a custom dash for. Your pics are motivating me to et off my a** and work in it.
