At the shop I used to work at we got UV curing resin from a local boat shop.  It was great because you could work as long as you want on your work without worry of it gelling over too early.  Then when it is ready you just take it outside and let it sit in the sun for 5 minutes and it is completely hardened.

I have not been able to find a supplier, until now.  I recently came by this website: https://surfsource.net/suncure/index.htm/resin.html  Unfortunately I don't have any fiberglass projects coming up, so I won't be trying it out for a while.  However I figured I would pass it along to you guys to try out and maybe offer a review afterwards.  If it works like the stuff I used to use, then you guys will love it.  It will save you time and possibly money from mixing up too much resin.

We have that stuff, wallmart sells a UV curing bondo.  I tried some on my car and the stuff is a pain to sand and the sun didnt hit all the areas i put it (shoulda thought o that before i used it though), Its not a bad product, i just had a bad experience with it (i wouldnt use it for bodywork, but for fiberglass projects i suppose it would actually be quite usefull) Maybe I just used a crappy brand of the stuff (Bondo brand)

I don't see where that would help,

Does the uv rays penetrate enough to cure thicker applications?

what about plllying resin inside the box?

what about fiberglassing different sides of a box then you have to turn the box 3 times so all 3 sides can cure.

you can always get a UV (black) light and get the insides.

I have been wanting to learn how to make fiberglass pieces for my 94 caprice, and i was wondering if there was a good place to get all the stuff i would need, cause the wal mart that i go to doesnt have stuff like dura glass, and the foam used for molding pieces

thanks

Home Depot and Lowes carry resin, as well as mat and cloth, but as far as duraglass and rage go, they dont carry it, the only body filler they carry is bondo, which is a pain to sand... As well, all the resin and mat and cloths they carry are Bondo brand.... so your best bet is select products, they carry great stuff and wont sale you out of date stuff, I believe unless you turn the resin over every week or so, resin is only good for 90 or something, and I know HD and Lowes dont do that, nor do they check the dates, I dont believe they even have a date on them! But good luck! Select Products is the way to go... has EVERYTHING you will need from start to finish.

www.solarez.com

I bought some of this stuff a while ago it works but there are instances where you want to use regular resin.

they sell in larger quantities too if you call them.

Ya gotta build a good relationship with the supplier!

I was in the store the other day and noticed a bag of about 15 tubes of hardner laying on the floor behind the counter and I could smell it.  I asked them if those tubes were bad and he said some of them were leaking so they were going to throw away the entire lot!  Well I saved them the trouble and hauled it away.  Foudn the leaking tubes and tossed them now I have about 12 full tubes left for FREE.
