how many layers of fiberglass mat can you lay at one time. I did one at first but that is just a waist of brushes. So i did two at the same time and it came out good. Can i do three or four.

I say as many as you can handle. I lay as much as I can. The only thing that limits me is the resin, how much can I lay before it starts getting hard.

ok one last question. it is a 9 cubic feet box for 4 12 in a single ported chamber. About how many layers should i do. I was thinking six layers of fiberglass mat and the one layer of fleas that i started with. What do yall think

3/8 - 1/2 " braced for that kind of enclosure. Otherwise you will see flex in the enclosure. Make sure you brace that enclosure as well otherwise you will need it to be thicker ------------- Jeff

just the top or 1/3 is made from fiberglass. It is still a big chunk from the totall box.

Better safe than sorry when constructing an enclosure that is made from two different materials. The thicker the top portion it, the stronger the overall enclosure will be espcially if you have the weight of 4 woofer's on the top.

Also, if you layer too many (more than like 10) at once your project may end up warping out of shape from the heat. ------------- Nik

given that i have not done that many layers at once, i wouldnt know that, but i had thought that it only heated up really hot if there was an overuse of hardener, and also i would imagine once you got to 5 layers, the first layer or two would already be partially cured, again depending on hardener use.

To be safe, I would not lay down more than 2 layers of glass at a time, it will be easier to work out any air bubbles that will pop up plus there is a chance that the work will warp a bit. If you are concerned about materials, just use the 50 cent cheapo brush's and small cheap mixing containers. Chris ------------- Alpine CDA-9833 HU
