I've been to pep boys a few times to pick up fiberglass mat, but the packages don't say what the wieght per square foot is. When I check ebay to try and get a deal, most of the listings are done by weight per square foot. I've already screwed up 2x...I bought 24oz. (which is really thick and heavy) and than 1.5 oz.(which is way to thin..it sticks to the brush when trying to apply resin).  Anyone know what weight the pep boys brand is, or where to buy a similar wieght mat from?

are you using Fiberglass mat or Fiberglass cloth? I prefer cloth because its woven. the mat like falls apart and sticks to the brush. that might be your prob. Have you tried fleece?

you can generally get a pretty good feel of what mat is right by looking at it, because you can generally tell how well something is going to absorb Resin by the visible thickness, and you want to find a happy medium of thickness and absorbtion ability. i typically use 2 oz mat, and a few layers of that makes for a pretty strong creation.
