this situation. opinions/advice/Go Read Here all appreciated and welcome.

i got a car thats older than i am, and i'm wanting to keep the original HU (Opel GT Radio by Delco --- AM, single speaker only, hard as hell to get to operate), for ... appearance reasons. besides, there's almost no room behind the dash, to install a standard HU. the old delco is shaped weird.

so. in the luggage rack, there's this panel thats 8 inches tall, and 36 inches long. Take the panel off, and you get to see the front of the gas tank, about 7 inches back. Aside from one support holding up another hidden compartment for toolbox and spare, its pretty open. Its dry, and... whereas not entirely sealed up, it does come close. Anyways, i went ahead and made another panel with a pair of 6x9s in it, and a HU. Put in mounting brackets for teh HU (which worked REALLY well) and mounted the speakers, which also went well. got a lot of wiring now, going into this 'space', constant and key wires for the stereo, antanea, switches for lamps and what not.

its really my 'effects' station, and fits into a very small space. however, i was wondering how i might 'fiberglass' this area. I want to ensure no moisture gets up on my HU, or speakers for that matter, and that i get the best quality of sound possible.

Should i create a fiberglass insert that contains switches, speakers, HU, and wiring all? Should there be independant boxes for the speakers? Where should i put the breather ... or do you want the speaker boxes sealed tight?

needless to say, whereas i can do wiring, and a bit of fab, i'm in the dark about these speaker boxes. lol.

i'll have to aquire a digital cam from a friend if you guys wanna see a picture of what i've done with it so far.

~~Vinn
