Hi everyone,i was wondering if somebody can tell me what's the best way to drill holes in 3/4" acrylic. The piece in question is going to expose my 10" A/D/S/ 310RS.2 in a sealed subwoofer enclosure (the front will be on MDF of the same thickness and the back ...acrylic).My acrylic is 24.75 x 14.25,also is 3.5"~4" spaced enough between holes.I do own variable speed cordless and some good metal/wood drills.

Thank you all !

you should be able to use what you have to do the job, but you want to be VERY careful and make sure that you dont try pushing the drill bit through, ive drilled through a lot of 3/4" plexi and have found that if you do so, the drill bit can become lodged into the plexi and not be able to be removed with out it breaking... so be carefull...   id say the BEST thing to use would be a drill press... drilling through with a hand drill will probably make the holes angled....   good luck

I would use a good sharp bit, or even go buy one for acrylic if you can find it. just be very careful and not in a hurry. Keep the RPM's reasonable so you don't melt the plastic, and It should be all good.

Years ago a guy showed me a trick for drilling acrylic, he flattens the tip of the bit and uses a drill press.  The most common reasons for breaking the acrylic is the bit grabbing and trying to pull through the plastic or using too much force on it. Another tip, anytime you are cutting acrylic, put down some masking tape on the line to be cut and cut through the tape. An "oldtimer" told me that the tape will keep it from cracking.

I've drilled acrylic plexiglass and found the best way was to use a HSS bit but dull the end first,
just drill into a piece of concrete for a few seconds so the bit is dull, then keep the acrylic flat and keep the rpms low and you should
have no problem.

Is it hard to build a plexiglass box, any harder that wood?
