I am ready to start building my SQ setup which includes dampening the entire vehicle and laying out the wires. I am planning on stripping the interior to do the sound dampening. I have never dealt with side curtain airbags that reside in the headliner above the B pillar. Has anyone worked around these before? Can I just remove the headliner carefully to avoid the airbags? Thanks in advance.

I'm no expert, but I have them in my G35, and I just worked around them when I had it apart. No problems here.

BTW--just don't pull any bright yellow plugs/harnesses. (that usually indicates airbag wiring)

Thanks I am aware of the yellow harnesses since I have done a lot of cruise controls. I assume the airbasg are entirely independent of the head liner then? Thanks again.

On my car, the airbags were totally independent of the headliner. The way they looked was that when they were triggered, they would blow the headliner right out of the door trim in order to release. In other words, the headliner would have to be replaced if they were deployed.

Get your self a Hanes manual from your local auto parts store. That will tell you how the system is is assembled and what to avoid.
