first you start off by reading.

I personally started off by searching google for "fiberglass". THat will give you a TON of how to hits.

Once you do that feel free to ask more specific questions

Yep, I don't mean to sound like an ass or anything, but I've always found that google is the BEST place to find info on stuff like this. You'll find a bunch of different websites: all with different technics. This gives you a wider variety of ways to do it. You can choose which way is best for you.

thanks for all your help..can i ask how long you guys have been doin this kind of stuff? cause im 19 and hopin its something that i can pick up and practice at...there must be a lot to know but is it something for a person like me with no experience to do?

it's not tough to pick up. im 17, and i picked it up pretty well on the first shot. you'll make mistakes initially even after reading how to avoid them, for example i forgot to use mold release on the first set of eclosures i didended with me ripping a lot of tinfoil off hardened glass. either way the best way to learn is to do it. you cant judge your favorite technique through reading. you really have to judge it off of experiencing it. google does have a lot of how tos on it, and there are basically unlimited resources for fabrication online. good luck, and post pics of your projects with more specific questions if you have them.

this is a little off topic from fiberglassing, but for a better understanding on airspace, and reasoning for strong enclosures, and basically anything to do with car audio, check out https://www.bcae1.com

thanks for all the great sites...another question, do you get all the resin and whatnot online or can you go to a home depot or something like that to pick it up?

Home Depot and Lowes should sell resin. I got my first gallon from Lowes then I bought another gallon from auto zone. In fact I bought all my fiberglass cloth from wal-mart. I just bought a whole bunch of those little bags they sell.

YEp, go to walmart for the fiberglass mat/cloth, and check your local boater's shop for the resin. THey normally sell a gallon for ~$29 out the door. THat's $5 cheaper then both lowes and Home Depot

Another good source for fiberglass mat is Ebay. I got a roll of mat 50 yards long x 36" wide for $50 plus $25 shipping. It is finish grade, not sure what oz. but I cut it up into different sized pieces in odd shapes and sizes and use it for my layups. It has worked out to be a cheap method as opposed to spending $10 on a bag of mat from Walmart. For resin I find Walmart to be cheap and convienient.

Good Luck with your projects!
