Ok, very new here so I will start off with saying HEY!!!

I am about to begin an extensive Sub Enclosure and Amp Rack in my 99 Cougar. I have 4 10" Phoenix Gold Subs going into a fibreglass enclosure along the back portion of my trunk, and then on the floor in the spare tire compartment a 4x100w McIntosh Amp to run them subs, and a 2x122W McIntosh Amp to run my MB Quart Mid Tweet Components in the front doors. I need to figure out the correct way to make a FG amp rack I think will be my issue. I have read almost all the posts on here by now and I am amazed by alot of your work. I am planning on taking pics along the process and will post regualrily. Just would like any feedback on the construction of the Amp rack in the floor. SHould it contain any MDF or just FG the entire thing and mount it in the spare tire location and then cover with a FG false floor over it all? Thanks for your replies and looking forward to this new adventure.

IMO build an actual floor and side supports from MDF then fiberglass the lid to flush the amps in. it all depends on the look you are going for. good luck and keep us posted.

I recommend using cardboard covered with a layer of fiberglass on both sides. This will be just as strong as MDF and weigh MUCH less

So what you are saying is that I could basically take a cardboard box and put it in my spare tire area, and coat it with FG and then maybe put a MDF floor down in the bottom of it to mount my hardware too? I would love that if its that easy. Can you just let me know or anyone else who thinks of a good idea.

Ok, I have finally started my Trunk area. Taped off the two side rear panels and put on the first coat of Resin. Posting pics. Hope these work out here. Feedback welcomed.
