hey i was wondering how i would go about makeing a custom bodykit. i got no idea to go about with this so help me out pls.
I was personally thinking about making one for my '01 Xterra...the way that popped into my mind was to:
take off the front bumper and lay it flat on my work bench.
lay tape/aluminum foil over the lower portion of the front bumper
lay some release agent over the tape/aluminum foil part.
ay down a couple layers of glass ALL aver the bottom portion (so as to make a mold)
build the body kit off of your mold.
then repeat the steps for the rear and the sides.
to add it back on...
take the bumper off again and glass your bodykit and bumper together...know what I mean...kinda confusing but you get the point.
You also can make a mold using foam. Just get a big chunk of foam, or spray a big chunk out of expanding foam, tape, add release agent, glass, attach to car, then finish. The foam would probably be best for the side skirts, as they require a little more pizzaz.
Good luck.

Kenwood all the Way!
Do it the way the pros. like Foose design do it. Lay down or glue blocks of foam to it then knock them down to a rough shape and do the fine detail with clay. When done you can paint on tool gell coat and then lots of glass and bam you got your self a mold. Next step is then making many molds and go into business for your self(if your feeling froggy).
Yeah you're right, I forgot about foam...there was a post on here a little while ago that showed someone doing a complete body change from an Acura NSX to a Ferarri I think. they used the foam on that. that would probaly be a little bit easier, but, more expensive...start your own business eh? stop filling my head with ideas abovestock.

Just whatever you do... Paint the darn body kit when you get it on the car, nothing looks dumber than a primer grey body kit on a painted car
how would i go about useing the foam blocks that seems like the better way to do it could i get a more in depth guide to it pls and help is VERY appreated.
