I appreciate and respect all the work everyone does on here. Helping everybody else no matter what the problem. I was just wondering what i am to do with the bubbles in the fiberglass after it has dried when laying it down on the fleece, i mean i got alot of bubbles. is there anything i can do to avoid this from happening again?, and how do i fix this problem right now. i heard that i can cut it out, and redo the bubbled spots Thanks Everyone!

u can grind out the air bubbles and go over em again, but i'm guessing the reason is that there was a lot of raised fibres on the fleece before u put down the matt, this can be avoided by either loading more resin onto the fleece to get it smoother or sanding it down before u use the matt.

so you think it would be a good idea to grind down the bubbles then just work in the resin untill it is smooth. also, are you saying that i could do a couple layers of just resin on the fleece and let that harden to its shape sorta speak. and then just mat over the already hardened resin? Thanks

Get yourself a roller that you can use to roll out the air bubbles. YOu can pick up an air roller for about $ 15.00

Yeah bsinnest, the easiest way to fix it is to grind the bubbles out and refill with resin. my first project I came across the same thing. learning to sand the first layer of glass, wipe clean, then start the second and so on..air bubbles suck and will weaken the integrity of the foundation. I normally use my chip brush and use a pokin' method, and it works fine for me. Whenever possible, laying down some resin before the first strips of glass is a good idea. Thanks Everybody, I went out and got a nice little grinder and a respirator and an orbital sander. All these tools make the job that much easier. but i had oodles of air bubbles to cut out. Question though. When i was grinding out the air bubbles. i accidently went through the fleece. If i were to put even more glass on those particular areas, should my box be alright in the end of all things? Thanks!

you should be fine, just put a few layers on the inside as well otherwise the air from the sub could still push on that spot. i did that to one of my projects and i threw it out, but i wasnt really happy with it anyways...if its something u want to save then just make sure u seal that hole inside and out.
