I have an aluminum ornament i am thinking about mounting to a fiberglass piece, but the aluminum is dull looking. Would it possible to polish this metal piece to a shine with regular tools such as dremel?

Aluminum can be polished with a solvent or a polish with a high speed attachment on the dremel or Roto Zip. No need to use sand paper.

only use sand paper if you have pitting. Polish with a cutting compound and your dremmel.

Mother's makes a really good polish called Mag and Aluminum Polish.  It's sold in a little plastic jar.  My brother and I use it all the time.  I used it to polish my bowtie.  When my brother had his 85 silverado, we used the polish on the headlight trim pieces (which are like a coated plastic), and it even polished those.
