HEllo all. First off i want to give a big thanks to the guys that have made it through the hurricane, all of our thoughts and prayers are with you guys, and thanks for working hard to get this great site back up and running!!!!

I have lurking around this forum for some time now, and just recently i finished one of the biggest projects i have undertaken. I have attached a link to some pictures of my new door panels. they are currently holding a pair of Niche Audio 5.25 compnents, and a pair of Goldwood 8" woofers. p[lease post and tell me what you all think of these.

not to shabby.... looks good, but how do you open and close the door? and it lookes like you have a little tweaking with thw locks. but looks good....

The panels look great, but do the subs get in the way when you try to put the signal on?

Personally I would have done something based on the original panels, but that's mainly because I prefer a factory look and don't have the skills to do something from scratch like it looks like you did. Nice work!!

Ya, well the doors are not completely finished, i guess i lies on my topic. sorry.
I open and close the door with the door handle, how do you open and close your door??????????????
Also, technically those are not my subs, just my mid-bass drivers. and im not sure what you mean blufab.
Kosoku.....ya i too prefer to stgay close to facttory design, but have you ever seen the door panel design for a E36 BMW????? needless to say, after looking and pondering on the factory doors for more than 3 months, there is NO way to have a .6 fubic foot box in the doors and keep factory look....... i tried my hardest...i promise.

Just wondering myself how they sound??? I would think that the imaging would be horrible as the front stage is normally lower in the like kick panels for optimum sound. If you like the sound then great. They look sweet, just not sure about the sound quality. Nice job otherwise.

cougar..... i'm not sure where you have been reading but the optimum soundstage in ANY audio re-informent, is for the speakers to be place as close the the original source as possible. since, a car does not have any source the best place for them to be is in a direct path to your ear. think about it, kinda like wearing head phones, or taking the shortest path from one point to another. there is NOTHING inbetween the speakers and my ears. unlike when a speaker is in a kick panel, the speaker is actually off axis to the listener. tghe sound quality is great. fortunately my head unit has a built in delay, 5 band parametric eq and a 3 way cross over. I had to cut out a little bit of 250hz (but who hasnt) and the rest of my eq is flat!!!!!!! they really do sound great. i have quite a bit of delay on the left comnents and the left 8", but everything is time alligned. thanks for the comments. glad to hear that i could inspire somene else, because all of you guys inspired me to finish my project.

BTW, the whole imaging statements here are flawed. Snoop around the Car Audio forum, like mainly the "advanced front speakers components" that Dyohn started. It discusses imaging much more appropriately.
