you most likely wont be able to use one whole sheet. The mat blends together easier if you tear it instead of cutting it....If you cut it, it will not lay down as flush....so i would tear it up into squares.....of maybe 7X7 depending on how big your box is....

i like to tear it and also tear some lines in the actuale peace of mat to get it to go around the curves better 7X7 sounds good to me

Just my experience...but when you choose to finally undertake the dash project, be sure to find a replacement dash just incase. Also, to help the glass and resin stick to the plastic scuff it up with 60 grit and drill lots of tiny hole into the dash before fiberglassing. Using a 1/16 or 3/32 bit normally does the trick for me.

One more question , should I sand the surface before each layer of  mat or can I just lay on top and keep on going?

Thanks!

Just lay the mat on 1 coat after the other.  U dont need to sand untill the final coat, unless you get some sharp points forming it the mat and you want to sand them smooth or there is a bump or airbubble you want to smooth out before the next coat

Lay your torn mat down in one even layer. If you have a piece that is sticking up then sand it down as soon as you get a chance. Let each layer cure before adding another.
